| Personal Interests Working With NGO's The dissertation for my MBA explored corporate and social philanthropy with the objective of using this knowledge to support charitable organisations by providing expert commercial expertise from the ensuing results. Tibet House Trust Corporate Fundraising Consultant 1995 - 2001 I worked for several years providing financial, commercial and corporate fundraising advice to the Tibet House Trust which is the Tibetan Government offices in Northern Europe. I was originally introduce through a family friend to the Dalai Lama's representative and from there I developed a number of initiatives to raise funds for the organisation which included;
Instead of accepting remuneration in monetary terms, I was 'paid' by being allowed to attend the Dalai Lama teachings and being examined by His Holiness's personal doctors for holistic treatment of ailments. Chernobyl 20th Commemorative Anniversary Fundraising Consultant 2005 - 2006 I am currently involved in hosting an event to raise awareness about the continuing plight of disfigurements and hardships caused by the nuclear explosion at Chernobyl in 1985. This will include include the planting of 48,000 flower bulbs for each of the children affected by the contamination, which continues to this day. Negotiations are taking place with the president of Belarus for an arts exhibition to take place in London in April 2006 which will attract the attention of the press and TV including a possible documentary. The ultimate aim is to raise funds for 48,000 children who have been affected by the contamination in the area surrounding the former nuclear plant and to provide urgent medical and nutritional support. Other Personal Information I actively support embryonic organisations by offering financial, commercial and marketing advice. In particular I work extensively in the arts, developing the careers and advising on portfolio development of artists working in all media. This includes website design, financial planning, development of commercial collateral including brochures, CD's, supplying advice on gallery database development and facilitating and supporting the artists to approach galleries to exhibit their work. A large part of my time outside work is also spent providing advice when needed to small start up organisations or putting them in touch with expertise that would sometimes be out of reach, or providing skills and expertise that small organisations with limited budgets would not be able to afford. Last but not least, I have starting playing my trumpet again, with a view to taking my Grade 8 exams in the next year or two and perhaps playing semi-professionally for fun in a Latin 12 Piece Orchestra. |
