Remit of the Role  

Following my redundancy from Charles Church plc (my previous company), I decided to set up my own business with my partner at the time to exploit a growing interest in the market in 'natural beauty products' and 'general well being'.
 
Projects & Activities
 

  • Cold calling potential customers

  • Development of product range which resulted from extensive research into changing consumer tastes in the health and beauty sector.

  • Developed press and advertising campaign which included national magazine publications that undertook 'product evaluations' of our range.

  • Market research gained  from questionnaires that were from responses gained from customers in the street and from postal questionnaires.

  • Produced all financial information including statutory accounts, tax and national insurance returns and business plans for submission to larger customers and the bank.
Key Achievements
 

  • Developed a thriving business in a difficult market

  • Gained a great deal of commercial and marketing skills that I did not have prior to setting up this business from the New Business Enterprise Scheme and Local Chamber of Commerce

  • Produced year end accounts and statutory returns.

  • Developed a 12 strong distributorship also selling my products to the public.

 
Reason For Leaving
 
The business was closed down because although initially successful, the economic downturn following the property market crash, resulted in rapidly deteriorating trading conditions which prevented the business continuing to trade.
